Earth Org’s mission is to create awareness of issues that impact the health of the Earth and our health. Environmental progress is built through everyday action—from communities protecting ecosystems to innovators advancing solutions. Clean air, safe water, and climate resilience aren’t optional—they’re essential. For Earth Day 2026, Earth.Org is mobilising at scale.
Every action counts. Every voice matters.

Action Opportunities: The official site, EARTHDAY.ORG, encourages action through:
* Local Cleanups: Participating in litter removal at beaches, parks, and streets.
* Advocacy: Signing petitions, contacting elected officials, and participating in voter registration drives.
* Education: Organising or attending teach-ins and community workshops.
* Global Participation: Over 1 billion people are expected to take part in events globally, with a push for environmental education and sustainable practices.
Efforts like EARTHDAY.ORG’s Our Power, Our Planet campaign are pushing governments to dramatically scale up renewable energy — calling for a tripling of renewable energy generation by 2030, a pace scientists say is necessary to keep climate goals within reach.
Join us for Earth Day 2026 and learn how to contact your elected officials or advocate for action with your local government.

Plastics
We are eating Plastic in our everyday food! What can you do to limit the amount of plastic you ingest?
Overconsumption—often driven by convenience, marketing, and impulse buying—directly feeds the plastic pollution crisis. Practically every new product carries a plastic footprint through its packaging, production, and shipping. By choosing to buy less or skipping impulse purchases altogether, we can reduce the amount of plastic entering our environment and even our own bodies. Learn more about the issue of plastics in our food system and how we can learn from the past generations who lived before our food chain was wrapped up in plastic.
The modern food industry relies on plastic at every stage. The issue is that all plastics, be it in the food industry or any other industry, in the end break down, shedding microplastics which are about the size of a grain of rice or smaller. The plastic is in the soil, in the oceans and in our supermarket food chains. It is almost impossible to purchase food from the food outlets that do not come with some form of plastic packaging. Keile Mader explores this in his article Unwrapping the ‘Hidden Role of Plastic in Our Food System” published December 15, 2025, https://www.earthday.org/
Blue Carbon
Learn more about how seagrasses and mangroves naturally help to capture carbon
The good news: Mangroves, seagrass meadows and salt marshes capture “blue carbon” and lock it away for centuries in waterlogged soils—while also sheltering shorelines, filtering water and nurturing marine life. When we protect and restore these habitats, you get a powerful climate win that communities can feel—less erosion, more resilience, richer coastal ecosystems. The urgency is real, too: when wetlands are cleared or smothered by pollution, stored carbon can be released back into the atmosphere. This feature unpacks how blue carbon works, what’s threatening it, and the practical actions already making a difference—from conservation to smart restoration—alongside the rapid emissions cuts needed to keep these natural defenders thriving.
