October Themes: Peacemaking, Revelations, and Revolutions

October begins with a call to diplomacy and repair. Mercury enters Libra on October 3, helping us find language to heal relationship rifts. Rachel Lang’s October Forecast

After the turbulence of eclipse season, this transit is like a breath of fresh air, urging us to listen, understand, and rebuild bridges that may have been burned.

Peace isn’t all about compromise. It’s about radical acceptance, creative problem-solving, and adopting a world view of collaboration instead of separation. We discover that with the Aries Full Moon on October 6 at 14˚♈︎ 08’. The lunation chart features a lot of tension, with a yod from Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries to Mercury in Scorpio at the apex. Juno in Sagittarius is also opposite Uranus, indicating the potential for impulsive and radical actions or catalyzing circumstances that stimulate a cascade effect of change. We want it to be a time for diplomacy, but the planets suggest otherwise. Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn, adding a sense of stern indignation. At the very least, this lunation says we’re not enjoying ourselves as much as we’d like.

Mercury enters Scorpio on October 6 and immediately squares Pluto on the 7th, pulling us into deeper truths and helping us decide what to surrender and what to advocate for. Secrets may emerge, helping us gain a more comprehensive understanding of a challenging circumstance. Our conversations become more probing and real.

Venus enters Libra on October 13, joining her home sign’s quest for beauty, camaraderie, and harmony. That same day, Pluto stations direct, and we can hold others accountable for unfair behavior, unethical activities, or frustrating interactions. Venus forms a stunning partile trine to Uranus and Pluto on October 14, weaving herself into the ongoing minor grand trine between Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn. This configuration offers the emergence of hidden talents or resources. It’s as though the cosmos is giving us a key to a locked door, asking: What gifts have been stifled? Are you ready to bring those seedling ideas to life?

The Sun opposes Chiron and Eris on October 17 and 18, highlighting our desire to heal suffering. A growing intolerance for the suffering of groups of people caught in the midst of geopolitical conflicts could provoke collective discord. Eris and Chiron, both at perigee, amplify the call to face chaos and injustice with resilience. Mars trines the North Node on October 18, encouraging us to act on our soul’s calling, even when the path feels challenging. We may feel that we have tests to overcome or obstacles in the way of accomplishing what we want. These two days spark the ongoing revolutions of 2025 and intensify the situation.

On October 21, we welcome the Libra New Moon at 28° ♎︎ 21’, the degree with the Sabian Symbol:

“HUMANKIND’S VAST AND ENDURING EFFORT TO REACH FOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFERABLE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION.”

The Sun and Moon stand in a t-square aspect pattern with Chiron and Eris in Aries and a square to Jupiter in Cancer. Jupiter holds the pressure at the apex of this pattern, while also joining in the Grand Water Trine with Saturn in Pisces and Mars and Mercury conjunct in Scorpio. Under pressure, Jupiter can act as the judge, putting us in our place and giving us a broader perspective on the big picture. Even if we don’t like the verdict, we feel a finality with this lunation. The opposition to Eris suggests it’s time to gracefully wave a white flag of surrender. The Libra Sun and Moon answer to Venus in her home sign of Libra, making the desire for harmony much greater than anyone’s need to be right. Choose your battles wisely. This lunation reminds us that our actions, our learning, and our love are part of something much bigger.

Neptune returns to Pisces on October 22, diffusing our view of reality, as it retrogrades to its otherworldly, oceanic home. This shift can heighten intuition and spiritual insight while also blurring boundaries. On October 29, Mercury enters Sagittarius, inviting optimistic thoughts, but Mercury is in the sign of its detriment. We trade mental clarity for hopeful envisioning. November will show us whether those visions are mirages or potential manifestations.
