Patricia Hamilton and Jacquie Walker had the pleasure of interviewing Pauline Melrose White, in which she shares her wealth of knowledge and the journey that led to the creation of Plant Wisdom. Pauline’s creative work has evolved quite dramatically over the years. In 2013, Pauline went to Hawaii to learn about sound and vibration, but the journey took an unexpected turn that changed her understanding of and relationship with nature.
Plant Wisdom is about forming a different relationship with our environment, one that is more holistic and involves an awareness of plants and nature as conscious beings. Pauline has developed a series of workshops in which participants can experience for themselves how to communicate with the Plant Kingdom and learn to understand and receive the messages that plants bring. This communication is made visible through the use of heliographic dyes on a piece of clothing, usually a T-shirt to begin with. The information received can be multidimensional and physical. As Pauline says, “Plant Wisdom is about forming a different relationship with our environment, one that is more holistic and involves an awareness of plants and nature as conscious beings.”
Pauline is an accomplished artist with a diverse creative journey who works with fabric, textiles, and design. She regularly exhibits her work; her latest exhibition is Whispers, by Annette McRay and Pauline White, in Adelaide this October. The two artists wrote to each other fortnightly, sharing memories, testing truths, and showing their love of the land, from the forest to the sea. Their art has taken them on a journey from timber mills in Victoria to the Pilbara and beyond.
Pauline White is a co-facilitator at Conscious Living Women’s Weekend Retreat in Safety Bay WA November 21-22, 2026 where she will be guiding an experiential session with Plant Wisdom – Learn More about the Retreat here
