Celebrating the launch of her new album, There is a Field, Kavisha Mazzella performed at Penny Lane’s Music Workshop in Fremantle last Sunday. Warm, intimate and uplifting, the afternoon beautifully reflected the spirit of the music, bringing together people of all ages in a heartfelt celebration of community and song.
Following her acclaimed album Empty Sky: Sacred Songs and Chants, Kavisha continues her exploration of the world’s wisdom traditions through music that invites listeners to slow down, listen deeply and reconnect with what matters most. The album’s rich musical tapestry features expressive violin, harp and acoustic bass by co-producer Nic Lyon, woven together with harmonium, guitar, bells, drum and celeste. At the centre of it all is Kavisha’s expressive voice, carrying each song with sincerity, grace and quiet strength.
What stayed with me long after the final notes faded was the atmosphere the music created. There was a sense of stillness woven through the afternoon, balanced with moments of joy and gentle celebration. It wasn’t simply a concert; it was a shared experience that invited everyone present to reconnect with themselves and with one another.
In a world that often moves too quickly, There is a Field reminds us of the importance of creating spaces where we can pause, breathe and remember what it means to be fully human. It is an album that doesn’t ask for attention—it simply opens a door. And if we choose to step through, we may find ourselves arriving home to our own hearts…
