Reset Before Your Rush

As we welcome the New Year and the holiday season comes to a close, many of us begin to notice how easily our attention has been pulled outward. Routines shift, schedules become unsettled, and expectations quietly build. It’s a time when it can feel surprisingly easy to lose touch with our inner rhythm.

I want to share honestly, this has been my experience too.

With family commitments and the busyness that comes with this season, I found myself moving away from my usual routines and grounding practices.

My focus shifted outward, and I noticed that familiar sense of clarity begins to fade. Not in a dramatic way, but gently, subtly, the way it often does when we are giving so much of ourselves to others.

What this reminded me of is something I see often in my work: getting “off track” isn’t a failure, or a time to judge yourself, It’s a sign that life is full. The important part is knowing how to return.

This moment at the beginning of the year offers a beautiful opportunity to pause, breathe, and reconnect. To ground ourselves again. To come back home

HOW TO GENTLY GET BACK ON TRACK

1.Start with awareness, not judgement

Notice where you are without criticism. Simply acknowledging that you have drifted is already the first step.

2.Re–establish one small grounding practice

I started with my morning breathing exercises, you don’t need to restart everything at once. Choose one simple practice a short walk, intentional breathing, or a quiet check in to anchor your day.

3.Reconnect with what matters most

Ask yourself ..What do I want this year to feel like? Let the feeling guide your choices before the gaols do.

4. Create space before you create plans

Clarity comes with stillness. Give yourself moments of quiet before filling your calendar or setting expectations.

5. Lead with compassion

Be gentle with yourself as you return to rhythm. Progress doesn’t require perfection only presence.

If you’re feeling a little disconnected or overwhelmed as the year begins, know that you’re not alone. Getting back on track doesn’t mean doing more, it means coming back to yourself. One breath at a time.
