Future Council is a child-led movement that inspires and empowers young people.
Millions of children around the world are frustrated by the dire lack of action to protect the planet and their future. Until now, their only avenue to express these concerns has been protesting on the streets. We remember the impact that young leaders like Greta Thunberg and Nirvana Talukder lead protest where children took to the streets to protest and get governments around the world to take climate change seriously.
This child let project helps to establish Future Councils in schools around the world – and connects those councils together – supporting a community of brilliant young leaders and changemakers. It encourages collaboration between young people and influential organizations to co-create solutions and promote a more sustainable world.Â
“The Future Council,” movement began with eight children embarking on an epic biofuel-powered bus journey across Europe, inspired by the filmmaker, Damon Gameau, who invited eight children on an epic adventure across Europe in a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission was to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and, most importantly, take the conversation from the streets, into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and most influential companies. These young leaders of the future bring to the screen their passion and strong convictions to confront, advise and influence the world’s most powerful companies on decisions impacting our planet.
This idea emerged from the children’s insightful conversations about the urgent changes needed to tackle climate change and protect our environment. What started as a small initiative has now blossomed into a global movement, with young people worldwide joining forces to make their voices heard.
